SIMPLIFIED PERFORMANCE

General
characteristics

The PS Hyla OPTIMA female is the result of cross-breeding between the GP OPTIMA female and the NGPC male from our new selection model based on sustainability.

This female is selected to respond to customer expectations in terms of simplicity of handling and robustness.

Their performance criteria are: :

  • Their ease of preparation
  • Their ease of handling
  • Over 85% persistence in 3rd parturition
  • Potential prolificacy of 10 live births per parturition
  • Homogeneous litters and kit weights

The reference female for breeders looking for simplicity: less time spent and a satisfactory margin/AI.

EXPERT VIEWPOINTS

The Hyla female was already known by breeders to be a heavy and robust female.

The Hyla female was already known by breeders to be a heavy and robust female, but somewhat lacking in fertility. This is why we took the opportunity to rework all of our female lines, to accelerate genetic progress on this latter point.

In order to boost this fertility, we focused our selection trials on improving maternal aptitudes, in particular milk production and capacity.

The cross between the NGPC male and the GP OPTIMA female, both from our new selection scheme, combines the historical morphological criteria of the Hyla female with improved performance criteria.

The Hyla OPTIMA female is therefore entirely in line with this search for a balance between performance, ease of handling and robustness, the three pillars of SUSTAINABILITY.
